Job Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assembles, installs, and repairs components and systems of heating and cooling by performing the following duties: Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. Maintains control and accountability for all inventory, parts, and time used on jobs. Troubleshoots service calls to determine the appropriate fixes or repairs to enable the customer’s equipment to operate correctly. Prices and completes labor hours on all job orders and submits completed paperwork at each opportunity. Assists with the marketing and sales of piping, heating, cooling, and service contracts as offered by Controlled Environment Technologies. Updates repair and installation skills as necessary. Completes all assignments within budgeted completion times. Makes regular updates to the office with information on work progress and necessary parts ordering.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Must have the determination to maintain goals, objectives, and underlying principles of the Company in spite of personality conflicts. Must have the knowledge and ability to perform HVAC tasks and knowledge necessary to read shop drawings and follow instructions regarding the installation and repair for assigned heating or cooling jobs.

Education: One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum of Three-Years’ experience working in the commercial / Industrial HVAC Industry or equivalent.

Licenses/Certification: Must be registered and working towards an EPA Universal Certification for Refrigerants. A valid driver’s license is required. Any state or federally mandated licenses. Skills/Knowledge: Must possess a thorough understanding of cooling and heating repair, maintenance, and installation work. Must have a complete understanding of company policies and procedures. Must be prudent, ethical, and credible and use good judgment. Must be goal-oriented, committed to the company and its products, and must have the ability to meet customers with confidence. Must be a team player with integrity and concern for the quality of Controlled Environment Technologies’ products and staff members.

Physical: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Body Positions: The position requires standing up most of the time. Sitting less than one-third of the time is required. Body movements of turning the head and torso, bending, reaching, and flexing the arms are required two-thirds. Employee may also be required to stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, talk and hear. The employee is often required to climb or balance. Body Senses: Must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.

Strength: Must be able to lift to 100 pounds less than one-third of the time. Confidential

Mental: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must be able to interpret shop drawings and translate to work order fulfillment. In English, the employee must be able to communicate verbally, read and write well enough to read and prepare reports, to interact with customers.

Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The technician will normally work on the components and systems in the field and will be subjected to the extremes in temperature that are naturally occurring. In addition, it may be necessary to climb to high heights to work on some of the components. Eight (8) to ten (10) hour workdays per week and may include Saturday, Sunday, Holidays, and evenings, as well at overtime when business backlogs occur or as business dictates. Technicians will be required to be scheduled “on call’ to meet the demands of the customers of Controlled Environment Technologies. This position deals with the public and some aggressive personalities and may be stressful.

Travel: Must be able to travel overnight as job requires, travel days maybe a minimum of (1) day or several consecutive days in a row. Travel expenses are the responsibility of Controlled Environment Technologies.

AUTHORITY and ACCOUNTABILITY:

Authority: The Technician is selected by the Service Manager or President and is granted the authority necessary to conduct repairs, maintenance, and installation work for Controlled Environment Technologies to achieve the goals and objectives of the Company. The employee may also be given the authority to recommend and sell certain products and services offered by the company.
